 Short biography

Giovanni Murano graduated in 2007 with a Master's Degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic of Turin.

Since 2009  he has been collaborating with the Italian Thermotechnical Committee for Energy and Environment (CTI).

He graduated in 2012 with a second Master's Degree at the Polytechnic of Turin in Building Engineering.

From February 1, 2013 to January 1, 2014, he was research fellow at the Polytechnic University of Marche, Agricultural Mechanics field.

Since 2014 he is tenured teacher of the Institute of Higher Education “B. Vittone”.

In 2015 he enrolled in the PhD course in Energy.

In 2017, at the 72nd National ATI (Italian Thermal Machines Engineering Association) meeting focused on "Intelligent and Optimum Management of Energy Systems" he received, in memory of Prof. Alfano, the award for his research on Technical Building Systems, considered the most deserving research of the whole doctoral session.

In 2018 he carried out a three-month internship at "The Cyprus Institute" on the nearly zero-energy hospital buildings topic.

In 2019 he completed his PhD in Energy, defending a dissertation on the design of nearly zero-energy buildings. From 2016 until today, he has collaborated as a Teaching Assistant (student tutoring program) in the course of energy performance design and indoor environmental quality. He participated with the CTI at IEE EU-Project RePublic_ZEB “Refurbishment of the Public Building Stock Towards NZEB”.

He also carries out the peer-review of scientific articles for the following journals: Energy and Building (Elsevier), Journal of Building Engineering (Elsevier), Sustainability (MDPI), Buildings (MDPI), International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (MDPI), Atmosphere (MDPI).

Currently, his main research activities are focused on zero energy building, building energy simulation, climate data for energy applications, cost-optimal methodology, energy performance of buildings, energy certification of buildings, building envelope and implementation of EPB (Energy Performance of Buildings) technical standards.
